Mint Museum Uptown: Level M
Why do we dream? For centuries, philosophers, scientists, and poets have offered wildly different answers. Some say dreams are fragments of memory, shuffled together in the quiet of the night. Others see them as blueprints of the future cryptic messages about who we might become. And still others think of dreams as nothing at all, mere static from the brain. But here’s the curious thing: whatever their origin, dreams shape us. They follow us into the day, changing how we speak to one another, how we see the world, and how we imagine what’s possible.
This year, in Dreams, the annual Staff Art Exhibition, we invite you into the private worlds of our museum staff. The works on view aren’t simply paintings, photographs, or sculptures. They are stories snapshots of the subconscious, stitched together from hopes and fears, from moments remembered and futures imagined. What you’ll see is less an exhibition than a conversation: between night and day, between our inner lives and our public selves, between the collective dreamscape of a community and the singular voice of each artist. Perhaps, as you walk through the gallery, you’ll start to ask the question that lingers beneath it all: What do my dreams say about me?
